In the park south of where I live there are some beautiful birch trees entertwined with the old oaks and maples.  As they create the scenery of "Beaches West", these trees seem to stand even more proudly.  One of the best things about the city is these little "retreats" that are created, where the grass is still green, the trees majestic and the quiet of the country instilled.   Along the Lakeshore there can be found a growing number of such parks, a good thing for the people of Toronto.
