Suburban Tree I
by Jane Hoople, Artist, 2004

Medium:  Acrylic, 30" x 30"

This is the first of my 3 Suburban Trees, which are a true look at my scribble trees. Its one of those trees that everyone seems to have on their front lawn in the suburbs, because it is just so accommodating to city life.

Its interesting, because it becomes obvious that our individual cultures don't matter when it comes to all living together so closely - these trees are on our lawns because they don't shed very many leaves, their roots don't ruin drainpipes & sidewalks, and they are easily molded to taste. I see them everywhere in the suburbs of Toronto.
