I painted this tree as a tribute to the 250 year old Oak Tree that survived the Bronte Road expansion this past fall. In fact, it's fate was not truly secured until this winter, when the $343,000 pricetag was paid in full to move the road around the tree. I also wrote the poem and hung it around the painting, symbolic of the actual tree itself that had a yellow ribbon tied around it for the months leading up to the final decision by the city.
